How to Avoid Buying Counterfeit Golf Clubs   by Greg Mitchell

With today’s world of technology, people have found themselves not having to go to a store in order to shop for something like a car or even golf clubs. All you have to do is just log onto eBay and there you will get an array of dealers who are willing to sell you various products from different manufacturers. So how do you go about buying a genuine golf club online? Here’s how:

The first thing that you have to do as a consumer is to know your product well. As an avid golfer, you will be at least a little bit familiar with various companies that manufacture golf clubs. If not let me enlighten you. The names of the companies are Callaway; Taylor made, Ping, Mizuno, Cleveland and Nike golf.

So you might be wondering by now how you will be able to spot a real dealer from a fake one, well the first thing that you will have to do is use your common sense and not buy from anyone who has a lot of negative feedback from their members and is lacking in sales.

Ask for serial numbers since most companies have a way of uniquely numbering their golf clubs and if the clubs you are purchasing lack this, then know that it is not the genuine product and you need not continue with the transaction.

As a consumer and one who is going to be using the product, you could also request the buyer for additional photos that will help you view the clubs being put up for sale at a closer range, if they are not provided then avoid that person like the plague.

It is also crucial to check the lettering and the paint on your club and try to note any differences between it and maybe a photo of the same online. Fake clubs will always have a flaw such as a difference in either paint color, the shape of the head and even the logo, fonts and weight sizes.

Also remember that most clubs are made out of titanium and so if you have purchased a club and have concerns on its genuineness then stick a magnet onto it. Did the magnet stick? If it did then you will have to send back that package and get a refund since titanium does not stick to magnets.

Be very wary of individuals who are having deals that seem too good to be true such as selling whole sets, you know the woods, putter, irons, wedges and even the bag as one, or even individuals who will sell you their products at generally low costs.

The last tip that I will offer you is that you should always check the ferrule, which is the piece of metal between the head and the shaft. Golf club manufacturers each have unique shapes to their ferrules and individuals trying to copy them rarely can. Remember that you can always contact the manufacturer directly since as the saying goes in the service industry,”customer is king.”
