Entering A Custom Bar Mirror Daydream

I made my way down the hallway, passing framed pictures of pals and family. Getting to the lower level bar I stared at myself for a short while in the different bar wall mirrors . I read the “fun never ends” citation that is etched on top of the mirror and wonder. Is it always a party? How long can the amusement last? It had been an incredible evening. My pals had turn up to share some good food and just enough wine to keep us laughing the whole night.

Seeing the image of my tired eyes reflected in the bar wall mirror , I changed my mind about having a gin and tonic after all. On second thought I head to the rocker and power on HGTV. I found a home improvement show, which has always been soothing to look at. I must have slept since I started to dream. “This has to go. Nothing other than shoddy workmanship everywhere. He started to lead me around my own home, mentioning the things he liked and what needed to be substituted. He begins to scrape the ceiling with his hammer. In a moment, he was pulling down pieces of the topside roof covering, revealing wood and bare pipes. He marches over to the bar and views in the custom bar mirror at his biceps sticking out of his brown overalls and flexes. We were standing next to my home bar. He stared at it appreciatively and smiled. “Let’s have a cocktail and see how it works,” he said with a grin. I poured two good measures of whiskey over ice and handed him one of the glasses.

“Alright, I’ ll pour you a pina colada.” “The only thing I would modify about this room is the color,” he announced, still sipping. Pointing to the walls, he started to list the colors popping up in mind. The dream changed swiftly, and the next thing I knew, we were standing side by side, painting the walls with oversized paintbrushes. We finished the first wall very quickly and got on to the others, now painting them lively yellow. She halts at the bar where Mike Holmes is passing David Bromstad his drink. He raised his glass and announced, “A toast to the fastest painters in the world.”

Suddenly, I am pretty aware that I am in the presence of an incredible interior designer, and that my dwelling is not ready for his critical eye. Not having this season’s niftiest paint colors on my walls was the least of my worries. Even in my dream, I felt guilty at my lack of panache! Genevieve tosses back her tequila. He stopped before the bar mirror and expressed, “This is amazing.” “Did you design the etched mirror?” I smiled, watching my happiness reflected in the bar mirror. “A special touch like this individualized bar mirror truly makes this a personal space.” Out of nowhere, he pulled out a saw and slashed the bar in half. Bits of wood fly everywhere. I found out that I was sporting goggles and a hardhat.

Then, a voice materialized all of a sudden, like a personal voiceover. It announced, “Will the Hudsons select the home with the swimming pool, the fixer upper, or the house with half a bar and some good-looking personalized bar mirrors?”

I feel a slight shaking feeling and discover my wife is standing over me, shaking me by the shoulder. I see my wife is starting to turn off the TV as I come out of my bizarre dream. “Wait!” I say to her, ” I would like to find out which house they chose.” She watched me like I was crazy. “Oh, the show…they chose house number three,” she said to me.

As I move back up the steps I smile realizing it was the sawed off bar and personalized bar mirrors that they couldn’t resist.
