I have to admit it has been a while since I ventured onto the golf course.Well I lie a little.
We have a caravan that backs onto the 18th hole of the local golf course so I have an armchair view or should I say sunchair view of the course.
I was there last Saturday on Mens club day and watched as a boy about
8 teed off.I knew he was going to be good because of the way he held his club.
His distance was the same as his fathers and probably twice the distance of my tee shot, had I been there. Sickening,so I will stay a safe distance away and just admire.In the boys case I will quietly throw up.But talking about watching from the sunchair,Is golf getting so techy now that we will soon be playing whilst sitting in the clubhouse?
Make no sense!Well look at what is now on the market.
Golf GPS.This allows you with knowing accuracy,the distances of your course and will increase your shot confidence and lower your score.You can even get access to 15000 courses worldwide.These are of course waterproof and have a touch screen.I am not sure if they come in color co-ordination to match your golf bag you plus can get a special sunction mount to keep your GPS unit secure.
Laser Rangefinders.These amazing gadgets have a digital inclinometer
which allows it to determine distances based on the degree of elevation change.It doesn’t tell you how far away the pin but tells you exactly
how far you should play for it.With accuracy to +/- one yard from 10 to 10000 yards away club, guesswork is gone forever.
Scope. A simple telescope which works based on the premise that all flagsticks are of uniform height and that the user can see it from top to bottom.It is used by viewing the flagstick through the scope and aligning it with a scale on the scope.These gadgets are quite cheap.I wonder if it can also find your ball.
We cannot forget that walking around the Golf Course is no longer ‘Chic’.We have automated golf carts for that.
